MECOM GROUP

 

Mecom Group is since December 2007 part of an enlarged Group held by an investment holding called ‘United Investments Ltd’ (UIL) quoted on the Mauritian DEM stock market. Mecom, the company, is also the holding company of several other small subsidiaries each contributing to the company’s overall services.

A brief description of these companies and their services follows...

MECOM

Founded in 1974, Mechanization Company Limited (Mecom) specialises in the import and distribution  of heavy duty equipment in Mauritius and in the region to the agricultural, construction, civil engineering, manufacturing and handling sectors. They offer a wide range of products and services with leading brands such as JCB, Atlas, Bomag, Komatsu, Landini, and Ausa. They run a large workshop with professional mechanics, service vehicles and state-of-the-art tools and equipment.

 

PEX

A former subsidiary of Pex Cape Town, Pex Hydraulics was incorporated in 1994 for the reconditioning of hydraulic components by mechanical & electro-plating processes. The company holds a pioneer status enterprises certificate, and is now a fully-owned subsidiary of Mecom.

 

FLEXICOM LTD

Flexicom Ltd was incorporated by Mecom in June 1995 for the manufacturing and the assembling of Pressure and Hydraulic Hoses. In November 2006 Flexicom took over all activities of Pex Construction, a company specialised in the sale of small pneumatic and other equipment.

BAJAMA LTEE

Bajama Ltée was incorporated by Mecom in March 1998, and operates in St Felix (based in the south east of Mauritius) as a sand extraction, screening and cleaning activity, for the supply to the Mauritius construction industry.


S.C.E.T.I.A Ltd

50% held by Mecom, S.C.E.T.I.A. Ltd was incorporated in November 1998 to distribute and service Ingersoll Rand equipment. Over the years, the company have extended its activities so as to distribute and service earthmoving equipment (by Liebherr) to the construction and agricultural sectors, and to supply the Golf & Hospitality sectors with Golf and turf maintenance, irrigation and fertilizer equipment (namely with Toro, Club Car and Duclos).

 

LA MOISSON Ltee

La Moisson Ltée was incorporated in March 1997 as job contractors and consultants to the agricultural sector in Mauritius. Since April 2002 the company is a fully-owned subsidiary of Mecom. La Moisson is contracted by various Sugar Estates on the island for harvesting their fields and for loading requirements during the crop season. The company is also sought after by various local civil contractors, of the likes of Colas Ltd, for the supply of rocks to crushing plants throughout the island via a structured de-rocking scheme.

TERRA MARKETING Ltd

Terra Marketing Ltd was incorporated in March 2010 for the importation and distribution on the local market of specialised tyres for trucks, agricultural equipment, off road vehicles and Golf carts. The company currently represents the following brands Galaxy, Primex and Effiplus.
