- Passive design and active specification strategies for achieving high performance, energy efficient and/or energy generating buildings
- Computer modelling software and the benefits of using this approach
- Walls, roof and fenestration solutions and technologies geared to low thermal radiation and acoustic penetration
- HVAC, lighting and IEQ
- European case studies - certified energy efficient buildings and how they perform relative to EU standards and the voluntary rating tools
- Lessons for Mauritian professionals learned certifying multiple buildings under similar standards in Europe
Day 2 – Gerard Romain (Sun Resorts, Mauritius)
- Review of new building standards and legislation in Mauritius
- Building Energy Auditing
- HVAC, Lighting and water heating systems and interventions
- Measurement and monitoring (BMS etc)
- Active energy generating technologies such as PV, wind, hydro etc, and which are most suited to Mauritius
- Practical examples of energy efficient intervantions, looking at investment vs return in savings within the Mauritian context
