  1. Passive design and active specification strategies for achieving high performance, energy efficient and/or energy generating buildings
  2. Computer modelling software and the benefits of using this approach
  3. Walls, roof and fenestration solutions and technologies geared to low thermal radiation and acoustic penetration
  4. HVAC, lighting and IEQ
  5. European case studies - certified energy efficient buildings and how they perform relative to EU standards and the voluntary rating tools
  6. Lessons for Mauritian professionals learned certifying multiple buildings under similar standards in Europe

Day 2 – Gerard Romain (Sun Resorts, Mauritius)

  1.  Review of new building standards and legislation in Mauritius
  2.  Building Energy Auditing
  3. HVAC, Lighting and water heating systems and interventions
  4. Measurement and monitoring (BMS etc)
  5. Active energy generating technologies such as PV, wind, hydro etc, and which are most suited to Mauritius
  6.  Practical examples of energy efficient intervantions, looking at investment vs return in savings within the Mauritian context
