The third annual EcoBuilding Conference, scheduled for 15 - 16 March 2012,

is perfectly timed to provide the property and construction sectors in

Mauritius with the latest developments in relation to projects, regulations,

initiatives and their implications, as well as to deliver another world class panel of

experts who will speak under the theme: Urban Planning and Building Design in a

Tropical climate.

We know that the environmental impact of buildings is considerable, that badly

designed buildings are much more expensive to run, and that demand for green

space is rising, yet we continue roll out large scale projects with little or no regard

to these realities. There are notable exceptions however, and those green ecobuildings

being built right now in Mauritius off er a beacon of light for all tenants

and building operators, and indeed for the entire economy.

Now is the time for development in Mauritius to go green, to unlock a path to

effi ciency and security, and to fulfi l the obligation to subsequent generations.
